Local Public Recreation

Sepulveda Dam and Basin

Stretching from the 405 freeway on the east to White Oak Ave. on the west, the 101 freeway on the south and Victory Blvd. on the north, the Basin provides a variety of recreational spaces and catches flood waters when necessary. Access these areas from Woodley Ave., Burbank Blvd., Balboa Blvd., and Victory Blvd. Many of these areas are closed during heavy rains due to flooding.

There are many bike paths in the area, both level and mountain trails.

One walking path surrounds the golf courses going along Burbank Blvd., the Los Angeles River, and Balboa Blvd. Others are noted on the page.

Encino

Los Encinos State Historic Park, Ventura Blvd., with an entrance on Moorpark Ave. and easy street parking. Includes a pond with ducks and geese, and historical buildings. Open Wednesday - Sunday.

Encino Park, Ventura Blvd. west of Balboa. Has a music center, children's play area, tennis courts and more.

Sepulveda Garden Center, Magnolia Blvd. & Hayvenhurst Ave. There are individual garden plots, various plant society meetings and occasional botanical shows.

Encino Baseball Complex, Hayvenhurst Ave. Many fields, ample parking in area. Home of Encino Little League

San Vicente Mountain Park is a 10 minute walk from parking on Mulholland Drive.

Tarzana

Tarzana Community & Cultural Center - A facility in a park-like setting "dedicated to the community for meetings, activities and programs that nurture community spirit, the arts, education and leadership, and preserve the history and unique cultural qualities of Tarzana." It's on Ventura at Vanalden.

Tarzana Recreation Center - (Tarzana Community Center) North of the 101 Freeway on Vanalden. The center includes a child care center, basketball gym, picnic area, playground, outdoor basketball courts, and baseball fields.

Santa Monica Mountain Trails / Caballero Canyon Trails - access from Reseda Blvd. south of Ventura Blvd.

Mulholland Gateway Park - access from Reseda Blvd. south of Ventura Blvd.
